Why typing in a Captcha-Code?

We all know this - you´re writing comments, sending mails to someone or dealing on your profile… and all of a sudden a window appears telling you to type in a code

The user is now forced to type in that code called “Captcha-Code” for the activities he was dealing with to be approved and to work out like sending a mail, a comment or fixing profile settings.

Many users get confused in this situation or fear to be either cheated somehow or to make a mistake by or while typing in that code.

Don`t you worry!

That “Captcha-Code” is for matters of MySpace`s security. It avoids the continual sending of mails and comments and protects us users from automatic changes in our profile settings.

Why do that?

Most spammers work with a so called “flooding-software”. That software can be configurated in a way to be sending up to several hundreds or even thousands of spam mails and comments at once. To interrupt that avalanche of mails and comments the MySpace-server blocks its service after a certain number of sent mails or comments and then asks to fill in that very code wich has to be typed in manually. This way automatic spam programs can only go on sending floods of mails or comments until getting interrupted by that “Capcha-Code”.

That way it`s much harder for spammers to fill up our mail in-boxes and comment bars.

Why that code appears while changing profile settings?

That`s for security reasons as well. Once it seems to be possible to cause automatic changes in people`s profile settings the order to type in a manual code will be given. The order to type in the “Capcha-Code” can also possibly protect you from changing your settings accidentially.

How can I use the code in my side?

You can’t this code use in your profile. It is automatically indicated after certain time.
